I have found decrying SF as a “tragedy” or constantly criticizing it to be an excellent litmus test for the technocratic right who insists they used to be liberals but now simply have no choice but to be conservative because the liberals have “moved left” or other back bending attempts to rationalize their conservatism as being anything other than 100% profit motivated and a weird sense of personal betrayal at the rise of homelessness and drug use in SF. cf Peter Thiel, “San Fransicko,” Balaji Srinivasan, Marc Andreessen
