The fact people still think this is how these models work is astonishing

Even if that were true, sampling is an artform and is behind one of the most popular and succesful genres today (hip hop). So is DJ'ing or is that also not a skill?

The same puritanism that claimed jazz wasn't music, then rap wasn't music, then EDM wasn't music, blah blah

Gatekeepers of what is and isn't art always end up wrong and crotchety on the other side. It's lame and played out.

I actually make a lot of sample based music, and it’s as much an art as you make it. Downloading a couple of loops from splice and layering them is lame, actually chopping and repurposing samples is not.

I never said Suno wasn’t “art”. The opposite is true. If you want to put your name on something that took no effort or skill and call it art, more power to you. You could do the same in other areas, and lame, low effort “art” proceeds AI by millennia. You are as welcome as anybody to call yourself a creator, however lame that effort may be.

But man the chutzpah of comparing that low effort drivel with people pushing genre boundaries.

If you sample you have to credit the creator of the original samples properly. It is astonishing that you do not know that.

What the hell does that have to do with the supposed artistry of it?

Sure, make the models credit the original artists, who cares. That doesn't change if it's an art that should be respected or not.

If you do not credit right it is steeling not art. Suno does not credit right.

So if Suno credits the artists suddenly AI music becomes art? What weird logic.

Your context window seems to be very narrow, please read your own original post and don't twist my words.

Yes my original comment was saying that sampling as an artform. You for some reason think copyright law is what makes sampling an artform.

Yes, sampling is an artform. We are on the same page here. But your original comment implies that using Suno would be like sampling. Therefor I mentioned that you need to properly credit the usage of samples, what Suno is not doing, Suno is steeling from real artist. Hope it is more clear now.
